When you enter your case details in our booking wizard, we also show you our specific success rate for your state or region. It may be higher or lower than the nationwide 97%. We believe in being upfront so you can make the best decision for your situation.
What counts as a "favorable outcome"?
A case is considered successful when the final result is better than what the original charge would have carried. Here are some common examples:
- Case dismissed
The charge is dropped entirely
- Points reduced or eliminated
The associated points are lowered to 0 or to fewer than the original charge (i.e. a 6-point ticket reduced to 4 points)
- Moving violation reduced to a non-moving violation
The charge will not appear on your driving record
- Charge reduced
For example, a felony reduced to a misdemeanor, or a misdemeanor reduced to a civil infraction
- Penalties reduced or avoided
Such as mandatory jail time avoided or a license suspension prevented
In short, if your attorney gets you a better result than the original charge, that is a success.
How does OTR achieve a 97% success rate?
We use a system called SmartMatch. When you book a case, SmartMatch uses over 10 years of case data to match you with the attorney most likely to win your specific type of case in your specific court.
This is different from picking a lawyer on your own. SmartMatch looks at real performance data — which attorneys have the best results for your charge, in your location — and connects you with the right one.
How does OTR compare to your other options?
When you get a ticket or charge, you usually have 3 choices. Here is how they compare:

Without legal knowledge or courtroom experience, the outcome often depends on factors outside your control. It is essentially a coin toss.

When you hire a single attorney directly, you are locked in to that one lawyer — whether or not they have a strong track record in your assigned court for your specific charge. Most lawyers also do not offer a money-back guarantee.
What if my case is not successful?
We wish we could win every case, but that is not always possible. Every case has its own details and merits.
Here is the good news: if you book a traffic ticket case through OTR and the outcome is not favorable, our money-back guarantee may apply. If it does, you receive a full refund of your legal fee. You will be told whether your ticket is eligible for the guarantee at the time of booking, right in the booking wizard.
The money-back guarantee applies to traffic tickets only. It does not apply to more serious criminal charges, as it is not legally permitted to offer a guarantee on those matters.
Important note about past results
Our 97% success rate is based on cases we have already handled. Every new case is different. A 97% success rate on past cases does not mean a 97% chance of success on your case. Your outcome depends on the details of your specific situation — the charge, the court, the evidence, and other factors.
